What is the modern furniture manufacturing process?

1、 Ingredients

The traditional ingredient method for new furniture usually consists of the following processes: material selection, cutting, planing, longitudinal section, flat planing, panel assembly, nesting, planing, four sided planing, etc. With the emergence of new processing equipment, the above process has been simplified accordingly, but the basic principle will not change. Ingredients generally require the following machines: cutting machine, press planer, cutting saw, flat planer, milling machine, splicing machine, band saw, four sided planer, etc. In addition, new types of equipment that have emerged in recent years include fully automatic computerized preferred saws, high-frequency splicing machines, fully automatic high-precision four sided planers, and so on. Quality control is also equally important in the ingredient process. The key points of quality control for ingredients include: material quality (burrs, tears, dents, indentations, wormholes, decay, deformation, knots, etc.), moisture content, size, knife marks, ratio and quality of panel adhesive, panel pressure, pressure time, method and amount of adhesive, size and direction of wood grain, nail holding force and flatness of the board. In addition, hot pressing can also be included in the batching process, which is an important part of the pre processing of the board. Hot pressing includes splicing, pasting, bending, and so on. There are several types of machines used for hot pressing, including leather cutting machines, sewing machines, fabric glue machines, hot press machines, cold press machines, edge banding machines, and bending machines. In recent years, new types of machines used for hot pressing processes have been constantly introduced, making it possible to process products that cannot be processed by traditional techniques. The key quality points of hot pressing include: moisture content, quality of thin sheets, quality of boards, wood veneer joints, wood grain direction, hot pressing temperature, mold shape for bending, and so on.

2、 White body processing (fine work)

The production process of white body processing for new furniture is somewhat different from that of traditional Chinese furniture (including Ming and Qing furniture), but as long as it is strictly processed according to the drawings and the processing accuracy is within the allowable tolerance range, it is sufficient.

White body processing (fine work) is a processing process in which each component of a product is processed from raw material into the size and shape required by the drawing. The key processing steps to pay attention to are drilling, milling, chamfering, and carving of components. The processing accuracy must be ensured in order to ensure that the assembly accuracy of the assembly process is within the allowable error range.

There are many types of machines used for white body processing, and new equipment is constantly emerging. However, no matter how advanced the machine equipment is, it cannot be separated from the basic five categories: sawing, drilling, engraving, sanding, and auxiliary. Common equipment includes various sawing machines (single piece saws, double cutting saws, precision 45 degree saws, band saws, wire saws, etc.), drilling machines (various types: bench drills, row drills, group drills, vertical and horizontal dual drills, pneumatic drills, etc.), various milling machines and engraving machines, various sanding tools and machines, etc. In addition, many new types of computer-controlled machines have brought varying degrees of technological changes to the production and manufacturing of modern furniture.

The key points of quality control in this stage mainly need to ensure the following three aspects: size, shape, and wood quality. The specific quality requirements will not be elaborated here. In addition, sanding and polishing is a process that requires a lot of time and space. One thing to pay special attention to when polishing is not to allow sandpaper marks with horizontal or circular stripes.

3、 Assembly

The assembly process is a crucial step in ensuring the quality of modern furniture products. Due to the large volume, heavy weight, and overall assembly of departmental products, there are significant differences in the equipment used, such as tools, assembly tables, and personnel, compared to traditional Chinese furniture during the assembly process. To ensure the accuracy of assembly and the proficiency of manipulation, each assembly line needs to be laid out fairly. The basic process is to first install the frame and then install the details, and then repair the unfair areas after installation.

4、 Painting

The painting referred to here mainly refers to American painting. American painting is a type of paint coating suitable for furniture used and popular in Europe and America, mainly including general American natural painting, ancient white painting, double-layer painting, and rural painting. The coating process mainly includes the following contents: substrate pretreatment (including damage treatment), material adjustment, overall coloring, filler, adhesive primer, Turner, Grace coloring agent, color correction coloring agent, second coat primer, topcoat, polishing and waxing processes. Based on the requirements of the American painting process mentioned above, the paint lines used must also correspond to it. Currently, a relatively large-scale paint line is the floor type painting. The process flow of the entire painting line is as follows: damage treatment (knocking, insect holes, grooves, filing edges, etc.), blowing ash, homogenization treatment, spraying base color, sealing paint, drying, polishing, rubbing, amine darkening, drying, first primer, drying, polishing, spraying points, dry brushing, second primer, polishing, dry brushing color correction, drying, first topcoat, drying, polishing, dust paint, finishing, second topcoat, drying, offline. The quality control of furniture painting is the most difficult and challenging aspect in furniture manufacturing. To achieve good quality control of painting, it is necessary to observe and practice more in actual production.

5、 Packaging

Package the products from the paint line as a whole, pay attention to protecting the edges and corners, and mark them according to customer requirements.
